PRESCOTT, Ariz. (July 26, 2025)
Dann Giesey has been named the new Head Softball Coach at Yavapai College, effective July 28th.
With over 770 career wins as a Head Coach, Giesey has helped more than 200 athletes earn college scholarships with his systematic approach to coaching and player development.
"We are very excited to welcome Dann to Yavapai College, where he will play a critical role in establishing a new culture," said Athletic Director Tim Kneip. "His aggressive coaching style and unique ability to identify talent are unparalleled. The sky is the limit for our Roughrider softball team."
Dann Giesey was hired as Head Coach of the College of Lake County softball program in 2023, where he inherited a program with a combined record of 50-210 over the previous eight seasons. He immediately led the team to back-to-back 30-win seasons with records of 34-19 and 33-20, including two undefeated conference seasons (24-0) and two consecutive Illinois Skyway Conference Championships.
His efforts earned him Conference Coach of the Year twice, as well as Skyway's Top New Coach in 2023. During his tenure, Coach Giesey produced six All-Region selections, two Conference Players of the Year, two Conference Pitchers of the Year, 21 All-Conference athletes, and helped 9 players earn collegiate scholarships. He is equally committed to his players' academic success off the field, where his teams consistently maintain a cumulative GPA greater than 3.4.
Prior to the College of Lake County, Coach Giesey served as Founder and Head Coach of the McHenry County Hurricanes National Baseball Program. Under his leadership, the program captured 28 Regional and National Championships, produced 52 NCAA Division I scholarship athletes, and saw 17 players selected in the MLB Draft.
Beyond athletics, Coach Giesey enjoyed a successful career in the corporate technology sector. At only 27, he was named Director of Global Technology for Pitman-Moore and has since held senior leadership roles with Comtech Group (IBM), Wilson Sporting Goods, Klein Tools, and Woodland Consolidated School District. His strategic leadership and technological innovation earned him the CIO of the Year award on two occasions from the Chicago chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP).
Coach Giesey earned his Associate of Science degree from Harper College and studied Management of Information Systems at North Central College. He still maintains the highest technology certification level at IBM as a systems specialist engineer.
Coach Giesey and his wife Nancy are proud parents to three exceptional children —Jarett, Jori, and Jennifer —and devoted grandparents to Wyatt, Hazel, and James.
