THATCHER, Ariz. – This weekend, the Yavapai Baseball team resumed conference play on the road against Eastern Arizona. The Roughriders and the Gila Monsters played hard in 3 games, and the victors would end up being the Roughriders, winning 2 of their 3 games. The Gila Monsters would end up stopping an 11-game win streak by the Roughriders.
Game 1
The first game of the weekend took place on Friday at 2 PM, and Yavapai won the game 4-0. This game featured pitcher
Traig Oughton pitching his second no hitter of the season! In 9 innings, Oughton faced 30 batters and had 5 strikeouts, all while having no hits!
The 4 runs were run in by
Matthew Peterson,
Caleb Horsey,
Liam Richards, and
Justin Cherrington.
AJ Diaz,
Kevin Ramos,
Brady Francisco, and Cherrington all batted in the runs. Richards and Cherrington both stole bases as well.
Francisco had 5 putouts, while Peterson, Ramos, and Richards each had 4. One of Peterson's outs was a double play.
Game 2
The first game of the first of March was a Roughrider victory! The good guys won 8-4.
Nathan Nichols and Liam Rochards both ran in for 2 each, and the other runs would be scored by
AJ Diaz,
Caleb Horsey,
Brady Francisco, and
Jackson Schofield. Schofield and
Justin Cherrington had 2 runs batted in, with the others coming from Diaz, Horsey, Francisco, and
Kevin Ramos.Â
Collin Adams and
Carter Boone both pitched in this game. Boone had 3 strikeouts in 3 innings, while Adams had 2 in 4.Â
Kevin Ramos had 7 putouts, while
Brady Francisco had 5, and Richards with 4.Â
Game 3
The final game of the series ended up being a Roughrider loss, as they would fall 6-13.
Liam Richards and
Brady Francisco each scored 2 runs, while
AJ Diaz and
Kevin Ramos each had one run. Their runs were batted in by Richards,
Nate Nichols (2), and
Justin Cherrington. Richards had 2 stolen bases, while
Caleb Horsey and Francisco each had one.
Ty Thompson had 3 strikeouts in 3.1 innings, while
Shane Hooper had 2 in just 1.
Matthew Peterson had 7 putouts, while
Lucas Franz had 6.

The Baseball team will travel back home for their next two games on Wednesday, March 5th, against South Mountain. The Double-Header will begin at 12 PM, with Game 2's first pitch at 2:30 PM.
