Six Home Games This Week For Yavapai Softball

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – There's no shortage of softball at Bill Vallely Field this week as the Yavapai College softball team is set for home matchups against the Arizona Western College Matadors, Mesa Community College Thunderbirds and Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters.

The Games
YC and AWC will play their doubleheader on Tuesday, April 16, with game one starting at 11 a.m. Two days later on Thursday, April 18, YC and MCC will start their doubleheader at noon. Then, YC caps its week off on Saturday, April 20, when it plays EAC with game one of that doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.

The Matadors
Arizona Western heads to Prescott with an overall record of 25-15 and conference record of 17-7. Last time out, the Matadors split with Phoenix at home. Earlier this season in Yuma, AWC earned a pair of wins against YC. 

The Thunderbirds
Mesa heads to Prescott with an overall record of 3-25 and conference record of 2-22. Last time out, the Thunderbirds split with South Mountain at home. Before playing YC, Mesa will play Paradise Valley on the road on Tuesday. 

The Gila Monsters
Eastern Arizona heads to Prescott with an overall record of 27-7 and conference record of 20-2. Last time out, the Gila Monsters swept Paradise Valley at home. Before playing YC, Eastern Arizona will play Central Arizona on the road on Tuesday. Earlier this season in Thatcher, EAC earned a pair of wins against YC. 

The Roughriders
Last week, YC fell twice at home to Pima, before splitting on the road with Central Arizona to move to 11-11 in conference play and 11-18 overall. Heading into the week, the Roughriders remain one game behind Central Arizona for the final spot in the region playoffs. 

Player To Watch
Sophomore infielder Torie Au is hitting .505 with nine homers and 40 RBI's. All three totals place her in the top-10 in each category in the conference while she is tied for the conference lead in slugging percentage at 1.000. 

History
In the all-time series with AWC, Yavapai is 39-24, in the all-time series with Mesa, Yavapai is 45-10 and in the all-time series with EAC, Yavapai is 43-27.
