PRESCOTT, Ariz. – With the Yavapai Baseball regular season nearing the end, the Riders are on a strong campaign to edge themselves into playoff contention, as long as their opponents lose and they win! Yavapai took on Eastern Arizona at home earlier in the week, and as the two would split the first day 1-, the final series score would end up being 2-1 for the Roughriders!

Game 1

The Roughriders won Game 1 7-5, with both Brady Francisco and AJ Diaz hitting home runs!

Diaz batted in 3 runs total with the help of his Home Run, and Francisco just batted in himself. The other runs were batted in by Matthew Peterson (2) and Liam Richards. The runs were run in from Peterson, Richards, Kevin Ramos, Caleb Horsey, and Justin Cherrington, on top of the Home Run scorers. Caleb Horsey stole a base in this game as well!

Collin Adams, who was the ACCAC Player of the Week last week, pitched 5.2 innings and had 7 strikeouts! Chase Blease came in as the relief and had 3 K's against 6 batters faced!

Brady Francisco had 10 putouts as the catcher, with Justin Cherrington having 7. Kevin Ramos had 3 assists, and double plays would come from Cherrington, Matthew Peterson, and Collin Adams!

Game 2

Yavapai had a strong start in this game, but would eventually fall 13-3 by the end of the 5th inning.

Surprisingly, the only runs Yavapai scored in this game all occurred from home runs! Matthew Peterson, AJ Diaz, and Brady Francisco each had a 1-run home run in this game, with Francisco and Diaz each hitting their second home run of the day!

Traig Oughton had 3 strikeouts, while Owen Fernandes and Shane Hooper each had one. 

Francisco had 5 putouts, while Justin Cherrington had 3. Double plays would come from Cherrington and Diaz.

Game 3

In the final game of the series, after a good night's sleep, the Riders were back and better than ever, as they would win the final game 9-7!

Kevin Ramos had a 1-Run Home Run in this game! He also accounted for three total runs, and batted in 2 runs total!

The other runs were run into home by Brady Francisco (2), AJ Diaz, Matthew Peterson, Caleb Horsey, and Justin Cherrington. Francisco would bat in 2 runs, with Nathan Nichols, Liam Richards, and Lucas Franz all batting in one.

Liam Richards would end up stealing 3 bases in this game! Other bases were stolen by Dalton Irwin, Matthew Peterson, Kevin Ramos, and Nathan Nichols.

Ty Thompson had 5 strikeouts in 6.2 innings, and Shane Hooper would come in and have two more K's in 1 inning!

Justin Cherrington had 14 putouts at First Base, with the catcher Lucas Franz collecting 8 putouts. Matthew Peterson had 4 assists, and Kevin Ramos had 3.
