HENDERSON, Nev. – The Yavapai Baseball team continued their conference play on the road at #18-ranked Southern Nevada, who had bested them in their previous 3-game series a few weeks ago, Now, Yavapai was set to settle the score, as they were to play yet another 3-game series vs. the Coyotes, and they would walk away going 1-2 vs. the away team, putting up 22 runs in their final game.
Game 1
The first game of the series began at 2 PM, and this game was a close match all throughout, and even went to extra innings. The home team would take the win, as CSN scored 3-2.
The two runs came from
Liam Richards and
Justin Cherrington, while
Matthew Peterson batted in both of these guys off of his triple.Â
Collin Adams pitched 4.1 innings and had 7 strikeouts.
Catcher
Brady Francisco had 10 putouts, and Cherrington had 7.
AJ Diaz had 4 assists.
Game 2
The second game had another home team win, with Southern Nevada winning 11-2.
The two runs came from
Justin Cherrington and
AJ Diaz, while being batted in by a triple from
Brady Francisco.Â
Traig Oughton had 7 K's in 5.1 innings.
Lucas Franz had 5 putouts, while Francisco had 3.
Game 3
The final game of the series started at Noon on Saturday, and ended near 4:30 PM. Yavapai would win this long game 22-9!
Runs would come from all over the place in this game, including home runs! The Home Runs were scored by
Caleb Horsey,
Matthew Peterson (Grand Slam!),
Brady Francisco, and
Kevin Ramos.Â
The runs were 22 in total, and they would be ran in by Horsey (4),
Liam Richards (3),
AJ Diaz (3), Francisco (3),
Justin Cherrington (2), Peterson (2), Ramos (2),
Dalton Irwin (2), and
Nathan Nichols. Besides the four guys who hit home runs, the other runs would be batted in by Nichols (3), Richards (2), and Diaz (2).Â
Liam Richards stole 2 bases in this game as well.
AJ Diaz at pitcher had 4 strikeouts, and winning pitcher
Owen Fernandes had 3.
