Yavapai Baseball Crushes Langley Blaze 2-0 At Home

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Earlier today, on a windy Tuesday afternoon, the Yavapai Baseball team played in their first home games in a couple weeks against Langley Blaze of British Columbia, Canada. The Roughriders dominated and won the 2-game series.

Game 1

The Riders won their first game, which began at 1 PM, 15-8. 

Out of the 15 runs scored, 4 of them came from Liam Richards, 2 from Kevin Ramos, Nathan Nichols, Brady Francisco, and Justin Cherrington, and one each from Carson Feddema, AJ Diaz, and Caleb Horsey. These runs were batted in by Cherrington (3), Matthew Peterson (2), Nichols (2), Feddema, Diaz, Ramos, Dalton Irwin, Richards, and Francisco. 

Cherrington had an especially good game, getting 5 hits at 5 At Bats, with 3 of those hits being doubles. Nate Nichols also hit a home run this game!

Owen Fernandes had 4 strikeouts facing 11 batters. Griffen Clapp and Shane Hooper had 2 K's as well.

Brady Francisco had 9 putouts, and Cherrington had 7. Peterson had 3 assists.

Game 2

Yavapai crushed in the second game as well! They won Game 2 easily 10-0 in 5 innings.

Carson Feddema batted in 3 of the 10 runs, with other runs being batted in by Liam Richards (2), Reid Hurtt, AJ Diaz, Caleb Horsey, and Justin Cherrington. Hurtt, Diaz, and Cherrington each ran in 2, while Feddema, Kevin Ramos, Horsey, and Richards each ran in 1. 

Austin Kalsek, Kyle Lockridge, and Chase Blease each had 2 strikeouts.

Lucas Franz and Justin Cherrington each had 6 putouts. Diaz had 3 assists. The Roughrider defense had zero errors in this game as well as allowing no runs.

UP NEXT

The Roughriders will make their way down to Yuma this weekend to face off in a 3-game series against #25 ranked Arizona Western. Game 1 will be at 2 PM on Friday, March 21st, with games 2 and 3 taking place the next day at Noon and 2:30 PM.
