PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The No. 2-ranked Yavapai College softball team smashed 10 home runs at Bill Vallely Field on Tuesday afternoon en route to a sweep of the South Mountain Community College Cougars. The Roughriders hit five in their 14-3 game-one victory and hit five more in their 16-4 game-two victory. The pair of wins gives YC its second 19-game win streak of the season and pushes their overall record to 39-2 and conference record to 31-1. 

Game One 
In their four innings of work with the bats in game one, the Roughriders scored one, two, seven and four runs, respectively. South Mountain scored once in the first, third and fourth innings to bring the final score to 14-3. 

Inside the circle, sophomore pitcher Emily Dix tossed all five innings and allowed just two earned runs while striking out seven. 

At the plate, sophomore outfielder Mia Weckel (double and homer) led the way with three hits while fellow sophomore outfielder Kayla Rodgers (homer), freshman infielder Lovey Kepa'a (double and homer) and sophomore utility woman Alyssa Rosales (two homers) all had two. 

Freshman infielder Yaya Kaaialii (three walks), freshman catcher Jasmine Moreno (double), freshman catcher Ashley Fields, freshman infielder Makena Riggs and freshman outfielder Sierra Griego all finished with one hit apiece as every game-one starter hit safely in the contest.

Game Two
The second game of the day wound up very similar to game one as YC scored two, two, 10 and two runs, respectively, in their offensive innings of work. The Cougars scored three times in the third and once in the fourth to bring the final score to 16-4. 

Freshman pitcher Emily Darwin started inside the circle in game two and went 3.1 innings while striking out six and allowing four runs. Dix came on in relief to close the contest with 1.2 innings of scoreless softball and three strikeouts. 

At the plate, Kepa'a (double and homer) led the way with three hits while Rodgers (homer), Kaaialii (double), Rosales (homer), sophomore infielder Cheyenne Sandoval (double) and Griego (double and homer) all had two. Moreno (homer) added a hit to the effort as well.
