PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The Roughriders were relentless in the Yavapai College softball team's first home games of the season on Tuesday afternoon as they defeated the Pima Community College Aztecs twice with scores of 20-0 and 10-2.

On the season, the Roughriders are 10-1 and have not only won nine-straight, but have done so in convincing fashion with all nine victories being run rules.

Game One
Sophomore pitcher Emily Dix took the game one start and went four innings, striking out 10 while allowing just one hit. Freshman pitcher Abby Cruz also worked a scoreless inning of relief.

Offensively, Yavapai tallied video-game numbers in game one as the team had 21 total hits, 11 of which went for extra bases and four of which went over the fence. In their four innings of offensive work, the Roughriders scored six, two, five and seven runs, respectively.

Sophomore outfielders Mia Weckel and Alyssa Rosales led the way in the hit column (each with four) while Weckel doubled and drove in two and Rosales homered and drove in four. Freshman infielder Yaya Kaaialii and freshman catcher Jasmine Moreno each had three hits, four RBIs, a double and a homer.

Freshman infielder Lovey Kepa'a tallied two hits in the contest (one of which was a homer) while sophomore outfielder Kayla Rodgers, sophomore infielder Cheyenne Sandoval, freshman infielder Makena Riggs, freshman catcher Ashley Fields and freshman outfielder Sierra Griego all had one with Rodgers and Fields' hits going for three bases and Riggs and Sandoval's going for two bases.

Game Two
Freshman pitcher Emily Darwin got the start inside the circle in game two and went five scoreless innings, struck out four and only allowed two hits. Cruz came in for another inning of relief and allowed no earned runs.

Every Roughrider who stepped up to the plate in game two walked away with one hit, except for Riggs who led the squad with two hits.

Kepa'a, Moreno and Rosales all left the yard for a second time in game two while Fields jumped in on the home run fun and hit one out as well. Rosales' three-run homer gave her the team-lead in RBIs in game two and on the day. Kaaialii, Riggs, Rodgers, Weckel and Griego's hits all went for two bases.
