SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 17, 2026)
The Yavapai Softball team had a much-needed stretch of wins today while on the road against the Fighting Artichokes of Scottsdale CC. Yavapai won both games, including a Game 2 that went into extra innings.
Game 1
Yavapai won their first game of the day 6-3, including stand out performances from
Ryder Wilmarth,
Danica Kern, and
Eniyah Dominguez!
Wilmarth, who batted and pitched, recorded 2 hits (1 2B), 2 RBI, and 4 strikeouts on the mound, while also stealing one base.
Kern and Dominguez each amassed 3 hits, including a double from Kern. Other extra base hits came from
Avree Rhodes and
Sofia Romero, who each were able to reach second base.
Daisy Smith came into relieve Wilmarth after 4 innings, and Smith recorded 2 K's.
Game 2
The second and final game of the day for the Roughriders was no cake walk, as a late Artichoke homer in the 7th frame sent the match into extra innings. Due to a base hit from
Kayley Gibb and a fielding mishap from the home team, the Roughriders were able to complete the sweep and walk away with another W in the win column, winning 5-3.
Georgia Wagner-Stiles had a multi-hit game, recording 2 base hits and 2 RBI's. Kern and Romero each had a double in this game, and the speed of
Yeluanmy Alvarado allowed her to steal a base.
Sofi Wagner-Stiles, sister of aforementioned Georgia, recorded 2 strikeouts on the mound and had 0 earned runs through 4 innings.
Kayley Gibb and
Avree Rhodes each had a Double Play in this game!

Yavapai Softball is currently sitting at a 16-27 record and will head back down to the valley tomorrow for more non-conference competition.
UP NEXT
Yavapai Softball is headed to Mesa tomorrow to face off in a double-header against the Thunderbirds. Games will begin at 12 & 2 PM.
