Yavapai Softball Sweeps Scottsdale CC on the Road

YC SB goes 2-0 at Fighting Artichokes

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 17, 2026)

The Yavapai Softball team had a much-needed stretch of wins today while on the road against the Fighting Artichokes of Scottsdale CC. Yavapai won both games, including a Game 2 that went into extra innings.

Game 1

Yavapai won their first game of the day 6-3, including stand out performances from Ryder Wilmarth, Danica Kern, and Eniyah Dominguez!

Wilmarth, who batted and pitched, recorded 2 hits (1 2B), 2 RBI, and 4 strikeouts on the mound, while also stealing one base.

Kern and Dominguez each amassed 3 hits, including a double from Kern. Other extra base hits came from Avree Rhodes and Sofia Romero, who each were able to reach second base.

Daisy Smith came into relieve Wilmarth after 4 innings, and Smith recorded 2 K's.

Game 2

The second and final game of the day for the Roughriders was no cake walk, as a late Artichoke homer in the 7th frame sent the match into extra innings. Due to a base hit from Kayley Gibb and a fielding mishap from the home team, the Roughriders were able to complete the sweep and walk away with another W in the win column, winning 5-3.

Georgia Wagner-Stiles had a multi-hit game, recording 2 base hits and 2 RBI's. Kern and Romero each had a double in this game, and the speed of Yeluanmy Alvarado allowed her to steal a base.

Sofi Wagner-Stiles, sister of aforementioned Georgia, recorded 2 strikeouts on the mound and had 0 earned runs through 4 innings.

Kayley Gibb and Avree Rhodes each had a Double Play in this game!
