PRESCOTT, Ariz. (March 7, 2026)
The Yavapai Softball team just completed their 4-game series at home against rv Eastern Arizona. Yavapai would win games 1 and 2 on Friday, March 6th, and Eastern took the W in the latter games on March 7th.
Game 1
The Roughriders won their first game against the Gila Monsters 6-3!
Danica Kern had 2 hits and 1 RBI, while also running in for 2.
Avree Rhodes and
Tamryn Tucker each had a double and an RBI apiece, while
Kayley Gibb ran past home for 2 while also stealing 2 bases.
Sofi Wagner-Stiles came into the game and stuck out 3 in 2 innings. The Riders' pitchers, including
Daisy Smith and
Ryder Wilmarth, only allowed 3 runs this game and just 6 hits.
Tucker finished this game with 3 fielding assists, while
Georgia Wagner-Stiles caught a runner stealing for the final out of the game.
Game 2
Roughrider dominance came through during game 2, where YC would run rule the ranked Monsters' in a 10-2 victory.
Yavapai had a ridiculous 17-hit game in just 5 innings, including 3 hits each from both
Lucia Jessen and
Tamryn Tucker, and 2 hits from
Avree Rhodes, Yeluamny Alvarado, and
Sofia Romero. Alvarado would have the only extra base hit of the day, resulting in a double.
Ryder Wilmarth had just one hit but had 3 RBIs, while
Kayley Gibb had 2 RBI off just one hit as well. Yavapai stole bases 3 times total (Kern, Rhodes, Gibb).
Sofi Wagner-Stiles gave up just 1 hit in 3 IP while also tallying 2 K's.
Game 3
The games on Saturday, March 7th were blustery and boisterous, leading to a few mistakes along the way. Yavapai would drop Game 3 of the series in a 4-2 home loss.
Daisy Smith had 1 RBI this game, while
Kayley Gibb stole home for the other run. Gibb tallied 2 SB's in this game.
Smith had 2 strikeouts, while
Sofi Wagner-Stiles had 3 and just one hit.
Ryder Wilmarth pitched in this game as well and accounted for 3 fielding assists.
Game 4
The final game of the series was a 6-2 loss for Yavapai.
The two YC runs of this game were results of stolen bases, where both
Danica Kern and
Eniyah Dominguez stole home. Dominguez had a double in this game as well.Â
Olivia Durazo allowed just one run and had 4 strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched.
Kayley Gibb's 5 fielding assists would not be enough to catch back up to Eastern, who pulled out to a 6-0 lead in the 5th inning.Â
Yavapai Softball sits at the top of ACCAC standings with a 6-2 conference record, 1st in the conference. Yavapai this season is 11-12.

Yavapai Softball has a BYE week next week and will not resume play until March 20th, where they will host a 4-game series at home against Southern Nevada.
