PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 24, 2026)
The Yavapai Softball team has just completed their road series against the Pumas of Paradise Valley CC, and Yavapai was able to win one of the two games.
These games had some standout performances from the Roughriders, including Freshman
Danica Kern, who had 6 hits in two games, including 2 Doubles, and 4 RBI's!
Thalisa Soto is also proving to be a great hitter for the Riders as well, as she had 2 Doubles in Game 2 of the series!
Game 1
While Yavapai was able to get off to a strong start in the first game of the day, going up 6-0 by the top of the 4th inning, YC would fall short in this game in a 11-7 loss.
Mindy Ward hit a 3-run Home Run in this game, making her the third Roughrider to hit a dinger this season!
3 of Dani Kern's 6 hits on the day came in this game, including 2 doubles, while batting in 2.
Eniyah Dominguez had two singles while having one RBI.
Daisy Smith started and finished this game, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing zero earned runs, and striking out 6!
Georgia Wagner-Stiles caught one runner stealing this game and allowed zero stolen bases, while Double Plays were made by Kern and Ward.
Game 2
The second and final game of the double-header showcased Roughrider dominance, as Yavapai would beat the Pumas 16-6 in just 5 innings!
While no Home Runs were scored in this game,
Thalisa Soto had 2 Doubles, and Dani Kern had 3 hits total!
Tamryn Tucker and
Sofia Romero would end up being the ones collecting the RBI's, however, as they each had 4 RBI's! Kern and
Lucia Jessen each had 2 RBI's as well.
Ryder Wilmarth was the starting pitcher in this game and stuck out two, while winning pitcher
Olivia Durazo had 1 K.
Sofia Romero had 4 fielding assists.
Yavapai Softball is currently sitting at a 12-17 record and are hoping to climb higher this weekend with their upcoming conference play.

Yavapai Softball will continue their road trip this weekend, where they will be heading down to Yuma to face off against the Matadors of Western Arizona. Games 1 and 2 will be this Friday the 27th at 9 and 11 am, while Games 3 and 4 will be at the same times but on Saturday the 28th.
