CHANDLER, Ariz. (February 6, 2026)
The Yavapai Softball team traveled down to Chandler earlier today for a two-game series against Chandler-Gilbert. The Roughriders and the Coyotes would split the series 1-1, with Yavapai coming out on top in Game 2 14-8.
Game 1
The first game was a Yavapai loss, resulting in a 2-4 final score.
This game featured the only home run of the day, which was a one-run Homer hit by
Avree Rhodes in the top of the 7th!
Yavapai had 6 hits in this game, including a Double from
Mindy Ward. That XBH would result in the second RBI of the day for the Roughriders, where she batted in runner
Sofia Romero.
Sofi Wagner-Stiles pitched for 5 innings, where she would strike out three.
Thalisa Soto would steal a base in this game, but the final score ended up as a 2-4 Coyotes win.
Game 2
Yavapai rallied back for Game 2 at 2 PM, which would be their fourth win of the season, winning 14-8!
The Roughriders scored 14 runs on 12 hits, and RBIs came from every corner of the Yavapai dugout in this game, including 3 each from
Eniyah Dominguez,
Tamryn Tucker, and
Georgia Wagner-Stiles!
Sofia Romero batted in 2 runners, while
Lucia Jessen and
Danica Kern each had 1 RBI.
No Roughrider Home Runs came out of this game, but Dominguez used her hits wisely, as her 2 hits equated to 2 doubles! Tucker and
Kayley Gibb each had an XBH as well.
In 4 innings, winning pitcher
Ryder Wilmarth recorded 4 K's, while
Daisy Smith had 3 strikeouts in 3 frames.
The Roughriders would win this match 14-8, and now have 4 wins on their season.

Yavapai Softball is now in full swing as they gear up for their next road game this upcoming Tuesday. On February 10th, the Roughriders will travel down to South Mountain CC for a double-header, with games beginning at 12 & 2 PM.
