Yavapai Splits 2-Game Series at South Mountain

YC SB goes 1-1 at SMCC

PHOENIX, Ariz. (February 10, 2026)

The Yavapai Softball team has just completed their two-game road series at South Mountain, where the Roughriders would finish their day 1-1 against the Cougars.

The first game was a 2-10 loss, featuring a single RBI off of a Kayley Gibb double. Sofi Wagner-Stiles' 4 strikeouts in 2 innings could not bring the Roughriders back from this deficit, and the game would be completed in 5 innings.

The second game of the day was a much better showcase for the Riders, as they would win 5-1!

In a game that featured 8 Roughrider hits, Yavapai players would bat in 5 runs total, and had zero fielding errors! Those runs were batted in by Sofia Romero (2), Avree Rhodes, Daisy Smith, and Kayley Gibb! Rhodes, Smith, and Romero each recorded a Double as well, and Rhodes even snagged a couple of SB's, which had helped her teammates bat her in for 2 runs total.

Daisy Smith, who was batting in the 8th position in this game, also had a magnificent pitching day. On top of allowing zero runs and just 2 hits from the Cougar offense, she had 6 strikeouts in all 7 innings!

As stated before, no Roughrider errors were committed in this outing, and some great fielding was in play throughout the duration of the game. Tamryn Tucker had 3 fielding assists, while Smith had 2. Lucia Jessen's 6 putouts was a team-high for the game, while Mindy Ward had 4.

UP NEXT

Yavapai Softball has just one more away game before the Home Opener at the end of the month. Their next game is Thursday, February 19th at Phoenix College. The Roughriders will head down to the home of the Bears for a single game that will begin at Noon.
