THATCHER, Ariz. – Yavapai Softball playoffs are here, and the Yavapai Roughriders aimed to make a run in the NJCAA Region 1 championship bracket! On this first day, Yavapai would go 1-1, shutting out the 1-seed Eastern Arizona in their win, and falling short against Arizona Western in the second game.
Game 1
Yavapai shut out the #1 seed Eastern Arizona 5-0!
Tamryn Tucker batted in 2 runs, while
Natalie Ojeda and
Charley Pitrat each had one.
Olivia Boswell had a stolen base in this game as well as running in for two, while Pitrat,
Brianna Baca, and
Hayden McGuire all ran in just one run each. Pitrat stole a base as well.
Mackenzie Durr had a fantastic first playoff game! She pitched all 7 innings, striking out 7, and allowing only 3 hits and 0 runs!
Natalie Ojeda did the catching and had 7 putouts, while left fielder
Emmersyn Villa had 5.
Game 2
Yavapai tried to come back from being down 6 late in the game, but the Roughriders would fall 4-9 to the Matadors of Arizona Western in Game 2.
Brianna Baca ran in for 2, with
Ivannya Perez and
Charley Pitrat right behind her for one apiece. Pitrat would bat in 2, while
Tamryn Tucker and
Gracie Firth each batted in one.
Baca and Perez each stole a base!
Hayden McGuire,
Kylie Sam, and
Tamryn Tucker each had a double play!

Tomorrow, Yavapai will play in their third game of the playoffs! Their day begins at 11 AM, where they will face off against 2-seed Southern Nevada.
