Yavapai College Names Tim Kneip New Athletic Director

Prescott, Arizona (April 2, 2025) – Tim Kneip has been named the new Athletic Director at Yavapai College, effective April 21.
Kneip will oversee Roughrider Athletics' seven Division I National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) programs, which include men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball.
 
Kneip currently serves as the Director of Operations for Volo Sports in New York City, where he managed a portfolio of 15 adult sports and successfully executed over 3,000 athletic events throughout the Burroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Before Volo Sports, he enjoyed a distinguished 17-year career specializing in global supply chain logistics and project management.  He has held senior leadership positions at multiple Fortune 500 corporations in the fitness, high-tech, manufacturing, and automotive industries.

"His passion for athletics coupled with his leadership experience and vision will inspire our athletic programs and student-athletes to reach new heights – both on and off the field."

Kneip is a native of central Texas and competed in varsity football, basketball, baseball, track and field, and tennis. He is a 3-time BMX national champion and competed as a sponsored professional athlete for almost two decades.

He served the community as President of the Capital City BMX Association(501c3), leading the construction and operation of a premiere racing facility in Austin, Texas.  With 20 years of coaching experience, his techniques have produced numerous state and national BMX champions.  In 2017, he was honored with induction into the Texas BMX Hall of Fame.

Tim and his fiancé, Mariana, are excited to join the Yavapai College community and plan to spend most of their time supporting the Roughriders.  Their hobbies include hiking, camping, fishing, weightlifting, and running.  They also enjoy trying new restaurants, listening to live music, and rebuilding classic cars.    

Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. He also has a Master of Science in Sports Business Management from Columbia University in New York.

Nearly 150 student-athletes participate in athletic programs at Yavapai College every year. They excel both in competition and in the classroom and provide service engagement within Yavapai County schools and communities.
