PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Over this weekend, the Yavapai Softball team went head to head in a 4-game series at home against the Gila Monsters of Eastern Arizona. The visitors would take the first 3 games, but Yvapai would rally back and win game 4, 4-3!
Game 1
The first game would result in a Roughrider loss, as they would score 3 runs to the Monsters' 9.
Runs would be scored by
Brianna Baca,
Olivia Boswell, and
Gracie Firth, with those runs being batted in by Firth, Boswell, and
Kylie Sam. Baca would steal a base in this game as well.
Pitcher Breanna Petty had 2 strikeouts, while
Daisy Smith had one.
Boswell and
Tamryn Tucker had 4 putouts each, and
Hayden McGuire had 4 assists.
Game 2
The second game of the first day was pretty similar to the first game, as Yavapai would fall to the Gila Monsters 8-2.
The two runs came from
Natalie Ojeda and
Charley Pitrat, with those runs being batted in by
Emmersyn Villa and
Angelica Carrillo.
Olivia Boswell stole a base in this game, and
Tamryn Tucker had a triple.
In 7 innings,
Mackenzie Durr had 6 strikeouts!
Natalie Ojeda had 8 putouts at catcher, and
Emmersyn Villa had 4 at left field. Durr had 2 assists.Â
Game 3
The first game of the Saturday Double-Header resulted in a close game, but ultimately a Roughrider loss, as they would fall 4-2.
The two runs came from
Brianna Baca and
Hayden McGuire, with Baca batting in one of those runs off of a triple  and reaching for home off a catcher's error. Baca also stole a base in this game, and doubles came from
Gracie Firth and
Emmersyn Villa.
Mackenzie Durr had 5 strikeouts in 7 innings.
Emmersyn Villa had 5 putouts, with
Kylie Sam,
Natalie Ojeda, and
Hayden McGuire all having 4. Ojeda caught a runner stealing.
Game 4
Yavapai would go on to win this game 4-3, with a big One Run Home Run in the first inning from
Tamryn Tucker!
The other runs came from
Brianna Baca,
Angelica Carrillo, and
Yeluanmy Alvarado. Baca and
Kylie Sam batted in a runner each as well.Â
Mackenzie Durr and
Breanne Petty each had a strikeout.
Hayden McGuire and
Tamryn Tucker each had 5 putouts, and
Brianna Baca had 4 assists on the field. McGuire and Tucker each had a double play.

The Yavapai Softball team does not play until the week of April 21st. They will play in a 4-game series at home vs. Central Arizona, with Games 1 & 2 on Monday, April 21st at Noon and 2 PM; Games 3 and 4 are at 11 AM and 1 PM on Tuesday, April 22nd.
