TUCSON, Ariz. – Earlier today, the Yavapai Baseball team made their way down to Tucson to play against the #16 Ranked D-II Pima Community College. The Riders would face off in a double-header against the Aztecs, and the Riders would fall 0-2 on the road.

Game 1

Yavapai would begin the day in the losing column, as they would fall to the Aztecs 3-9.

The 3 runs scored were from Caleb Horsey (2) and Lucas Franz. Those runs would be batted in by Justin Cherrington and AJ Diaz. 

Pitchers Kyle Lockridge and Griffen Clapp each had 2 strikeouts.

Franz, Matthew Peterson, and Kevin Ramos all had 5 putouts. Franz also caught a runner stealing a base. One of Ramos' putouts was a double play.

Game 2

The Riders would go 0-2 on the day, falling in the second game 5-12. 

Both Justin Cherrington and AJ Diaz would hit Home Runs in this game! The other runs were run in by Carson Feddema and Nathan Nichols (Cherrington had 2 total runs in the game), and the runs were batted in by Derek Kiepke, as well as 2 from both Diaz and Cherrington.

All 4 pitchers in this game had 1 strikeout each. These pitchers were Austin Kalsek, AJ Diaz, Owen Fernandes, and Justin Parkes.

Derek Kiepke had 4 putouts this game, while AJ Diaz and Liam Richards had 3.

The Roughriders will return home for a 3-game conference series this weekend against Community Christian! Game 1 will be on Friday, April 4th, at 2 PM. Then on Saturday the 5th, there will be a double-header vs. the Saints, beginning at Noon.
