Yavapai Softball Plays in 4-Game Series On The Road vs. Eastern Arizona

THATCHER, Ariz. – This weekend, the Yavapai Softball team continued their conference play on the road, where they faced off against Eastern Arizona. Yavapai would end up getting swept 0-4 by the Gila Monsters.

Game 1

The first game of the 4-game series began on Friday at Noon, and the Roughriders would lose the game 10-13.

There was plenty of scoring in this match, as runs would be scored by Hayden McGuire (3), Brianna Baca (2), Tamryn Tucker (2), Olivia Boswell (2), and Ivannya Perez. Tamryn Rucker would score a home run in this game, batting in 3 runs total! McGuire and Gracie Firth would bat in 2, and Natalie Ojeda and Perex each batted in one as well. 

Boswell stole one base during this game. 

Mackenzie Durr pitched 6 innings and had 3 strikeouts.

Kylie Sam, Natalie Ojeda, Tamryn Tucker, and Hayden McGuire each had 3 putouts, and Tucker had a double play as well. 

Game 2

The second game was not nearly as high-scoring as the previous match-up, as Yavapai would lose 2-3.

Runs were scored by OIivia Boswell and Ivannya Perez, with both of the runs being batted in by Hayden McGuire.

Breanne Petty pitched 6.2 innings and had 2 strikeouts. 

McGuire had 9 putouts, and Yeluanmy Alvarado had 3. Petty and Brianna Baca each had 4 assists.

Game 3

The first game on Saturday began at 11, and Yavapai lost this contest 0-6.

Charley Pitrat had 2 hits and they both were doubles. Brianna Baca and Olivia Boswell each stole a base in this game as well.

Hayden McGuire had 7 putouts, Boswell had 6, and Kylie Sam had 3. Assists would come from Baca (3), Sam (2), and Tamryn Tucker.

Game 4

The final game of the series vs. the Gila Monsters would be a close one, but Yavapai would fall 3-5 in the final inning.

The three runs were run in by Charley Pitrat (2) and Olivia Boswell. The runs were batted in by Emmersyn Villa, Tamryn Tucker, and Natalie Ojeda. 

Mackenzie Durr pitched 5 innings and had 3 strikeouts against 26 batters.

Pitrat had 4 putouts, while Ojeda and Boswell each had 3. Tucker and Brianna Baca had 2 assists as well.

If the weather permits, the next games will be Yavapai's first home games of the season! The Softball team will face off in a double-header vs. Western Nebraska CC at home on Tuesday, March 11th. Games will begin at Noon and 2 PM.
