jPRESCOTT, Ariz. – Earlier today, the Yavapai Softball team opened their home games at Bill Vallely Field for this season, and they celebrated by sweeping Western Nebraska 2-0!
Game 1
In the first game of the day at Noon, the Roughriders took the lead early and never looked back, winning 9-1.
Olivia Boswell scored 3 runs,
Brianna Baca had 2, and
Angelica Carrillo,
Natalie Ojeda,
Charley Pitrat, and
Tamryn Tucker each had one.
Gracie Firth batted in 3 of these runs, while the others were batted in by Boswell (2),
Kylie Sam, and Carrillo. Baca and Boswell each stole two bases, and Sam and Pitrat each stole one.Â
Breanne Petty was the starting pitcher, and she pitched 5 innings, allowing no hits or runs, and getting one strikeout!
Charley Pitrat had 5 putouts, and
Emmersyn Villa had 3.Â
Game 2
In the second game, the Roughriders were riding high on momentum from game one, and came out swinging even harder, winning 11-0 in just 5 innings.
Runs were scored from

Lily Booth (2),
Kylie Sam,
Natalie Ojeda,
Charley Pitrat,
Tamryn Tucker, and
Emmersyn Villa. The runs were batted in by Tucker (3), Sam (2), Villa (2), Ojeda, Pitrat, and Booth. Boswell stole 2 bases, and Sam, Baca, and Booth each stole one as well.
Mackenzie Durr pitched 4 innings and had 8 strikeouts, allowing no runs and just one hit!
Natalie Ojeda had 8 putouts.

This weekend, the Roughriders are set to play against Community Christian at home, on Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th, if the weather is good. If so, the games on Friday are at 12 and 2 PM, and at 11 AM and 1 PM on Saturday.
