Yavapai Softball Begins Conference Play On The Road, Winning 3 out of 4 against Central Arizona

COOLIDGE, Ariz. – This weekend, the Yavapai Softball team went on the road for their first conference play of the season, where they faced off against Central Arizona. The Roughriders would be overall victorious, as they would win three out of the four games!

Game 1

The first game of the 4-game series would begin on Friday at Noon, where the Roughriders would win 3-1.

The three runs were scored by Brianna Baca, Olivia Boswell, and Hayden McGuire. The runs were batted in by Gracie Firth (2) and Charley Pitrat. Baca would steal a base in this game as well.

Pitcher Mackenzie Durr had a great game, where she only allowed 1 run and had 2 strikeouts in 7 innings. She kept her opponent's batting average to below .100 as well.

Tamryn Tucker had 9 putouts, while Kylie Sam and Emmersyn Villa each had 3. Baca had 6 assists, with one of them coming in the form of a double play with Tucker. Gracie Firth caught a runner stealing as well.

Game 2

The second game of the weekend was directly after the first game, and the Roughriders would win 11-7.

Brianna Baca, Hayden McGuire, and Olivia Boswell each had 2 runs, while the other runs were scored by Kylie Sam, Gracie Firth, Charley Pitrat, Tamryn Tucker, and Eniyah Dominguez. Tucker batted in 5 of those runs, while the others were batted in by Firth (2), Ivannya Perez (2), and Dominguez. Tucker and Boswell would each steal a base.

Daisy Smith, Breanne Petty, and Kaitlyn Hudson all pitched in this game. Hudson had 3 strikeouts against 8 batters.

Kylie Sam had 5 putouts, while Firth, Baca, and Tucker all had 4. McGuire had 6 assists, and Firth caught one runner stealing a base.

Game 3

The first game of Saturday, March 1st, began at Noon, and Yavapai took the win, 10-5.

Gracie Firth and Tamryn Tucker each scored 2 runs, while the rest were scored by Natalie Ojeda, Brianna Baca, Eniyah Dominguez, Olivia Boswell, Hayden McGuire, and Emmersyn Villa. Ojeda batted in 3 of these runs, with the rest of the runs batted in by Firth, Baca, Villa, Ivannya Perez, and Angelica Carrillo

Mackenzie Durr and Breanne Petty both pitched in this game, and Durr had 3 strikeouts in 4 innings. 

Tamryn Tucker had a ridiculous 11 putouts, including a double play! Brianna Baca had 5 assists on the field, and Olivia Boswell also was part of a double play.

Game 4

The final game of the series was unfortunately a Roughrider loss, as the home team was victorious, winning 6-9.

Runs were scored by Tamryn Tucker (2), Brianna Baca, Charley Pitrat, Olivia Boswell, and Hayden McGuire. Tamryn Tucker and Natalie Ojeda batted those runs in. 

Daisy Smith had 2 strikeouts facing 14 batters.

Tucker had 6 putouts, while Kylie Sam, Natalie Ojeda, and Hayden McGuire had 3. Baca and McGuire had 3 assists each as well, and Ojeda caught a runner stealing a base.

UP NEXT

The Softball team next plays on the road at Eastern Arizona. They will face off in 4 games, two on Friday, March 7th (12 & 2 PM), and Saturday, March 8th (11 AM & 1 PM).
