Roughrider Baseball Set For Cochise And Arizona Western Rematches

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – More familiar foes show up on the schedule for the Yavapai College baseball team as the Roughriders are set to host the Cochise College Apaches and travel to the Arizona Western College Matadors this week for conference doubleheaders. 

The Games
YC and Cochise will face off on Tuesday, April 16, at Roughrider Park with first pitch set for a noon start. Then, after a few off days, the Roughriders will travel to Yuma, Arizona, for a doubleheader against AWC on Saturday, April 20, with game one set for a noon start. 

All four games will feature live streaming on GoRoughriders.com/Live and live stats on the GameChanger App. 

The Apaches
Cochise heads to Prescott with an overall record of 31-19 and conference record of 18-14. Last time out, the Apaches split with Central Arizona at home. 

The Matadors
AWC heads to Prescott ranked No. 15 in the NJCAA with an overall record of 33-11 and conference record of 20-10. Last time out, the Matadors split with Eastern Arizona at home. Before hosting YC, AWC will travel to Central Arizona on Tuesday for a conference doubleheader. 

The Roughriders
Last week, YC swept Scottsdale Post Grad at home and then split with No. 14-ranked Pima at home to give the Roughriders four wins in their last six games. 

Player To Watch
In his last two outings, freshman pitcher Traig Oughton has tossed complete-game victories against No. 2-ranked Central Arizona and No. 14-ranked Pima. 

History
In the all-time series with Cochise, Yavapai is 100-62 and in the all-time series with Arizona Western, Yavapai is 102-75.
