MESA, Ariz. – The Yavapai College baseball team took on the No. 11-ranked Salt Lake Community College Bruins on Sunday afternoon to cap off the Zinger Bat Invitational and fell 19-6 to move to 1-3 overall on the season.

The Bruins Scored early and often and benefitted from some big innings as they scored six runs in the second and ninth innings, four runs in the third inning and single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

For the Roughriders, they scored first with a single run in the first and played catchup the rest of the way, notching two runs in the third, one run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh to cut the deficit to 13-6, however, the aforementioned six-spot by SLCC in the top of the ninth put the contest out of reach.

Offensively, SLCC outhit YC 14-11 while the Bruins made four errors in the field and the Roughriders made two.

At the plate, sophomore outfielder Jude Hall, sophomore infielder Ethan Thomas and freshman catcher Wailele Kane-Yates all tallied two hits while freshman outfielder Zachary Dando, sophomore infielder Jack Erickson, sophomore infielder Mitch Wood, freshman infielder Quinn Allen and freshman catcher Cole Gillespie each tallied one hit apiece.
