Four Road Games Await YC Softball This Week

2/20/2023 12:15:00 PM

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – While the weather in Yavapai County limps its way to spring weather, the Yavapai College softball team is set to continue its 2023 campaign in the valley with a pair of conference doubleheaders down south this week.

The Games
Softball commences for the Roughriders on Tuesday, February 21, in Chandler, Arizona, where they will take on the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Coyotes with first pitch of the doubleheader set for 1 p.m.

Next up for YC is the South Mountain Community College Cougars on Saturday, February 25, in Phoenix, Arizona, with game one set to start at noon.

Live stats will be available for all four games while live streaming will be available for Saturday's doubleheader on GoRoughriders.com/Live

The Roughriders
Last week, the Roughriders defeated Paradise Valley in game one of their doubleheader with the Pumas and were on their way to a sweep (up 15-3 in the second inning) before rain halted the contest, forcing it to be continued when Paradise Valley visits YC later this season.

After the Paradise Valley doubleheader, the Roughriders were swept in Yuma by Arizona Western College to drop their record to 1-6.

In the middle of the week, freshman utility player Torie Au earned ACCAC Player of the Week honors after tearing the cover off the softball in the Roughriders' first week of action.

The Coyotes
Chandler-Gilbert comes into its matchup with YC at 5-8 overall and 5-3 within the conference. Last week, the Coyotes swept Glendale and split with Mesa.

The Cougars
South Mountain comes into its matchup with YC at 8-3 overall and 7-1 in conference play. Last week, the Cougars swept Phoenix and Glendale.
