PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Freshman E-Sports athlete (and Roughrider men's soccer standout)
Mael Lopes defeated the Arizona Western College Matadors in FIFA 22 on Monday night, concluding his regular season with a 6-2 record (7-2 counting the bye).
"Mael has shown his dedication to competing and improving this season by practicing every week, even through the trials and tribulations that life can throw," Head E-Sports Coach Kevin Lewis said. "Mael has earned his spot in the playoffs and we are excited to play against the next tier of opponents."
Lopes' Monday-night victory was decided in a four-game set: a 2-0 win in game one, 0-0 tie in game two, 1-1 tie in game three and 3-0 win in game four to clinch the victory.
