PRESCOTT, Ariz. – After winning two championships in 2023 (one in Hearthstone and one in Rocket League), the Roughrider E-Sports program is set to begin regular-season competition this week to start its spring season.

Head Coach Kevin Lewis has built the Roughrider E-Sports program from the ground up since his hiring in December of 2021 and now has his 16 student-athletes competing in five games (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Overwatch 2, Street Fighter 6, Rocket League and Beat Saber) in 2024.

The full roster for the squad can be found here while the full schedule can be found here. In addition, the streaming link can be found here on the team's Twitch page.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a 2018 crossover fighting game developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Sora Ltd. and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. The game follows the series' traditional style of gameplay, in which players control one of the various characters and use attacks to weaken their opponents and knock them out of an arena.

Caleb Lubic will be YC's sole SSBU player and will compete on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

Overwatch 2
Overwatch 2 is a hero shooter, where players are split into two teams and select a "hero" from a roster of 35 characters. Characters are organized into a "damage" class, responsible for offensive efforts; a "support" class, responsible for healing and buffing; and a "tank" class, responsible for the team's protection.

Summer Kirk, Brandon Pieczarka, Andrew Rideout, Nick Rideout, Zachary Roehr and Timothy Sweeney comprise the Overwatch 2 team and will compete on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

Street Fighter 6
Street Fighter 6 is a 2023 fighting game developed and published by Capcom.

Yiannis Paslidis will be YC's lone Street Fighter 6 player and will compete on Thursdays at 9 p.m ET.

Rocket League
Rocket League is a vehicular soccer video game developed and published by Psyonix. Described as "soccer, but with rocket-powered cars", Rocket League has up to eight players assigned to each of the two teams, using rocket-powered vehicles to hit a ball into their opponent's goal and score points over the course of a match.

Ryan Gardner, Garrett Gaydos, Daniel Lanier, Jericho Nucum, Patrick Perez, Bishop Rhoads and Michael Walbridge comprise the Rocket League squad and will compete on Fridays at 8 p.m. ET.

Beat Saber
Beat Saber is a virtual reality rhythm game developed by three Slovaks Ján Ilavský, Vladimír Hrincár, Peter Hrincár and published by Czech game developer Beat Games. It takes place in many different surrealistic neon environments and features the player slicing blocks representing musical beats with a pair of brightly-colored sabers.

Drey Rochette will be YC's lone Beat Saber player and will be competing in a nontraditional schedule.
