THATCHER, Ariz. (March 21, 2026)
The Yavapai Baseball team has just completed their 3-game series on the road at Eastern Arizona, and Yavapai would walk away with 2 more conference wins on the year against the Gila Monsters!
Game 1
Yavapai started off strong with a dominant 12-2 win over the Gila Monsters, winning in just 5 innings!
Carter Brown, who is proving to be an absolute menace at the plate, smashed a home run in the top of the 5th over center field!
Brown would end up with 2 RBI in this game, as well as
Aukai Araujo-Waiau.
Matthew Peterson would hit a double that helped him get one RBI, and
Parker Halvorson stole 2 bases in this game!
James Rule had an excellent time on the mound as the starting and winning pitcher for the Roughriders. Although he gave up 6 hits, he allowed just 2 runs, walked 3, and struck out 6, all in just 5 innings.
Dalton Irwin made 3 key fielding assists, while Peterson amassed 6 putouts.
Game 2
The second game of the Friday double-header proved to be a little more competitive, with Yavapai winning in 9 innings 13-8.
Once again,
Carter Brown had a home run in this game, and
Matthew Peterson added another dinger to his illustrious collection.
Brown's homer was just for one run, but ended with 4 RBI on the day, and Peterson's would also bring
Tarrell Reid home. Reid and
Garison Jones each had 2 RBI as well, while
Dalton Irwin was able to hit 3 singles in this game alone. Irwin and
Aukai Araujo-Waiau each had a stolen base this game.
All four pitchers who pitched in this game for Yavapai had exactly 2 strikeouts, including
Austin Kalsek,
Owen Weeks,
Nathaniel Ramirez, and
Owen Fernandes. Ramirez allowed only one hit and no runs.
Peterson, who stood at first base, had 10 putouts, and Araujo-Waiau and Irwin each had 3 fielding assists. Three double plays were made in this game, coming from Reid, Peterson, and Irwin.
Game 3
The final game of the series was not as fortuitous for the Roughriders, as they would fall in Game 3 in a 9-1 loss.
Tarrell Reid was the only Roughrider who was able to score an RBI, where he was able to send
Parker Halvorson home.
Carter Brown recorded the only Rider extra base hit, producing a double.
Starting pitcher
Max Strickland had 4 K's in 4 IP's, and did not allow an earned run in that time.
Yavapai Baseball is now 12-11 this season, and now have 4 ACCAC conference wins this year!
