PRESCOTT, Ariz. (March 14, 2026)
It is a good day to be a Roughrider Baseball fan! In their 1 PM game against #19 Arizona Western, Yavapai Baseball defeated the Matadors 8-2.
This game featured many excellent performances, but none compared to the pitching job by starting pitcher
Max Strickland. In 7 complete innings, Strickland faced 23 batters, threw 102 pitched, walked 2, and struck out 10! He also only gave up just one hit and zero earned runs, as well as picking up his third win of the season.
As for some other great Roughrider moments, 3 home runs were scored today! They would come from
Tarrell Reid,
Carter Brown, and
Dalton Irwin. Reid had 3 hits today in 4 at bats, while
Matthew Peterson and
Aukai Araujo-Waiau each hit a double.
After Strickland's performance, reliever
Owen Fernandes came in and faced 9 batters, striking out one.
The day before (March 13th), Yavapai and Arizona Western faced off in a double-header, which resulted in 2 Matador wins.
Game 1 ended at a high-scoring 15-13 final score, with Homers hit by
Parker Halvorson,
Carter Brown, and
Reid Hurtt.
Owen Weeks had 3 K's.
Game 2 had excellent pitching from
James Rule, but Yavapai would fall short in 7 frames, ended in a 10-2 final score.
Yavapai won today's match 8-2, and are now 9-10 on the season.
