PRESCOTT, Ariz. (February 17, 2026)
The Yavapai baseball team has had a hot start to their 2026 season, and to showcase their dominance, the Roughriders led a 14-1 win over the Royals of Douglas College.
Although rain and wind were factors in this game, the Riders came to play, and crushed the opponents in 5 innings, right before the hail began to fall.
The 14 runs that happened in this game came primarily from extra base hits, including 4 home runs by the home team.
Garison Jones had a grand slam home run, batting in 4 with just one hit on the day.
Dalton Irwin had an especially great game, batting in 5 total, and hitting a double and a home run over center field.
Reid Hurtt and
Revan Maduro each hit far homers as well, with Hurtt's bringing in 2 runners and Maduro's single run HR happening after the first pitch of the 3rd inning.
Derek Kiepke had 2 RBI's, which he achieved by batting in both runners with a double for the first two scores of the game in the bottom of the 1st. Kiepke also recorded a steal this game, as well as Jones and
Parker Halvorson.
Nathaniel Ramirez had an excellent pitching game. In just 4 innings pitched, Ramirez gave up just one run and had the batters swinging the air for 8 strikeouts.
The Riders had zero fielding errors on the day, and ended the game with a Double Play from 3B
Matthew Peterson to 1B
Carter Brown. Both Kiepke and Ramirz caught 2 Royals runners stealing.
Yavapai Baseball is now 5-2 this season. Prescott Valley natives and Bradshaw Mountain graduates
Garison Jones,
Dalton Irwin, and
Nathaniel Ramirez all had especially great days.
