PRESCOTT, Ariz. (January 21, 2025)

The Yavapai Men's Basketball team just completed their ACCAC Home Conference Opener against the rv Matadors of Arizona Western, and in a close back-and-forth battle, the Roughriders would fall short by just 2 points on their home court.

The game was within 10 points for the majority of the 40-minute stretch. Yavapai took a 10 point lead early in the first half, but the Matadors would continue to creep back and eat at the lead throughout the contest. In a game with 6 lead changes and 4 ties, dramatics ensued, and the game was decided from a missed three-point attempt by Rudolfs Svitins to try and win the game by 1.

Jason Parent continues his excellent Sophomore season by scoring a game-high 26 points, going 11-13 from the field, including 2 3-pointers. Not far behind him was Torin Bosch, who had a hard-fought 18 points, and Amari Lawrence had 9 off of some deep threes.

Bosch and Lawrence each had 4 boards in this game.

Yavapai would lose this game 72-74; their first home conference loss of the season.
