PRESCOTT, Ariz. (September 6, 2025)
Another day, another two games Yavapai Volleyball gets to play during their Volleyball Invitational! Yavapai started off their second day strong, sweeping Colorado Northwestern 3-0!
The first set was high-octane offensive efficiency, with Yavapai rarely stepping off the gas pedal! They won this game 25-14, with lots of help coming from four
Skylar Schwartz kills, two
Micah Gardner spikes, and two service aces from
Mariah Leyva! The last three points of the set came from back-to-back-to-back spikes from
Anouk van Kollenburg, Aliceya Çiftçioglu, and
Destiny Matthews, in that order.
Yavapai also won the second set 25-13. Team Captain
McKenzie Wright had two early service aces, and Schwartz and Gardner continued their offensive dominance, each scoring three kills! Later in the set,
Sarah Lora checked in and began her Yavapai career, where she scored two explosive kills. Hédi Mayerhoffer sealed the score with a game-winning block, winning set #2 25-13.
The final set featured some more first time play from Yavapai's bench players!
Skylar Schwartz continued her reign of terror over the net and the fearful Spartans, clocking in a ridiculous 5 kills in this set alone! Aces from Wright, Mayerhoffer, and
Morgane Breault kept the Yavapai lead strong, and the blocking duo of Mayerhoffer and
Valerie Sabalza proved to be a tough wall to chip through. Lora checked in and scored another kill, as well as some late-set scoring from
Kristianna Richards and
Eris Pimentel! The Roughriders won this set handily 25-13, while winning the overall match 3-0 in a sweep.
