Prescott, AZ (February 15, 2025) – The Yavapai College Men's Basketball team fell 68-67 in a nailbiter to Central Arizona College in an Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) clash on Saturday at Walraven Gymnasium.
YC jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead in the first 1:35 of the game thanks to three-pointers by
Nadir Myers and
Jason Parent and a massive steal and rim-rattling dunk by Parent.
Minutes later,
Raphael Dupouy put down a monster jam of his own from a Parent assist.
YC maintained the lead for much of the game. The Roughriders led 36-28 at the half and held a similar advantage throughout most of the second half.
CAC tied the game at 63-63 with 3:15 to play, but Parent broke the tie on the next possession with a nifty drive and layup.
Brayden Gant of CAC hit an and-one layup with 1:28 to put the Vaqueros up one, 66-65.
After a missed shot,
Deyishon Miller made a tremendous hustle play to knock the ball off a CAC defender, keeping possession with YC with 28 seconds to play.
The hustle play by Miller proved to be a pivotal moment. On the ensuing inbounds, Parent backed his defender down and hit a hook shot with 14 seconds left to put YC up 67-66.
