TWIN FALLS, Idaho (November 1, 2025)
The Yavapai Men's Basketball team just earned their first win of the season against Colorado Northwestern, scoring 83 points to their 71. Yavapai went 1-1 at the Physicians Immediate Care Tournament, defeating Colorado Northwestern today and falling short to #17 Southern Idaho on October 31st.
The game had some ups and downs for the Roughriders, but Yavapai managed to maintain the lead for the majority of the game. In the second half, Yavapai climbed up to a 15 point lead with much help from hot scoring by
Rudolfs Svitins, but that lead got chipped away at by the opponents. Yavapai would close out the game strong to proprel their season to a 1-1 record.
Although Svitins had the hot hand in the second half, totaling the day with 20 points,
Jason Parent was the game changer of this one, scoring 28 points in 37 minutes!
Torin Bosch had 14 points off the bench.
Parent was also dishing out some dimes to his teammates, tallying 5 asissts, while
Timotey Zoonekynd had 4 on the day.
Svitins and Parent each had 9 rebounds, but the rebounding champion of the game goes to
Raijon Dispensa, who grabbed 10 boards including 5 offensive rebounds.Â
Ryan Vischer and
Amari Lawrence each had 2 blocks, while Zoonekynd's 4 steals helped the Roughrider offense generate some fast break points.
Yavapai would win 83-71 against Colorado Northwestern, and now they are at 1-1 on the season.
