PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The Yavapai Men's Basketball team played their first conference game against Eastern Arizona today. The Roughriders would end up falling to the Gila Monsters, 81-85.
The first half had a lot of great offensive plays, particularly from
Nadir Myers,
Deyishon Miller,
Jason Parent, and
Kevin Rucker Jr. Center
Martin De Laporterie had a big dunk late in the first half as well. Myers and Parent each had a steal, and
Raphael Dupouy had a block. Yavapai foul trouble would have the score at halftime be 37-50.
In the second half, the home team brought the defense to keep the game close. Parent had a couple of blocks that would lead to Miller offense. Myers would make some plays, and it caused
Kyle Robinson Jr. to get jump started. De Laporterie and Dupouy would get in on the action as well, making some shots and making the game a closer competition. Yavapai would go on to improve their 3-point shooting in this half, but would end up falling short to Eastern Arizona.
