The Yavapai College Men's Soccer team traveled down to Yuma this weekend to face off in the Regional Finals versus the 1-seeded Arizona Western College. Yavapai was able to play tough and maintain intensity for the entire 90 minutes, but they would fall 1-0 as AWC would win and become Regional Champions.
The first half featured high level plays from both ends of the floor. Yavapai was able to keep the ball out of their own goal with great saves from #99
Maximiliano Ionita, as well as assistance from #24
Ian Lama, #17
Jacob Vincent, #11
Anthony Khananisho, #20
Ricardo Juarez, and #4
Erick Quirarte. On the other end, Yavapai's offense was aggressive. Although no points were scored, Yavapai tallied nearly ten first half corner kicks, as well as shot attempts from Lama, #14
Brandon Fischer, and #22
Dante Espino-Kennedy.
The second half of the game was a little more of the same, where both teams played aggressive, but YC was able to bring on the heavy offense. Huge shots came from Vincent, #10
Andres Pulido, #16
Rashaad Powery, Khananisho, amd #7
David Murillo. The defense kept coming in clutch from Ionita, and #19
