Yavapai loss 0-3

PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- In today's second game against Eastern Arizona College, the Yavapai College Volleyball team fought hard after last night's matchup against the same team, but they were no match for the Gila Monsters. Yavapai would fall 0-3 today, and this tough loss felt like an uphill battle without #15 Tiona Drumm.

The first of three sets had great offensive plays, the majority of them coming from #16 Trinity Pilimai, #9 Marija Raonic, and #8 Hanna Pereira. There were great defensive efforts as well, with big blocks stemming from the likes of Pereira, Pilimai, #18 Michalina Oles, and #3 Micah Gardner. Yavapai started strong, but Eastern Arizona would finish on an 8-2 run, with the final score being 18-25.

Set Two started off with Libero #13 Ciara Yearby hyping up her teammates, as well as some diving hustle from Yearby and #17 Makaya Moody. Big offensive plays came from #10 Jocelyn Taveras, Trinity Pilimai, Hanna Pereira, and #4 Emily Hogg. Big blocks from Hogg, Pereira, Gardner, and Taveras kept the match close at first, but EAC ran away with the score yet again, and this battle would be won yet again by the Monsters, 15-25.

In  Yavapai's chance to make an epic comeback, big back-to-back scores from Pilimai would givr Yavapai great momentum out of the gate. This was followed by powerful spikes from Raonic, big kills from Pereira, and Hogg scoring plays as well. Great serves from Pereira and even more big hits from Pilimai would have YC kep the game close, but yet again, Eastern Arizona has too much size, so many offensive efforts were thwarted by their height and defense. Eastern Arizona would win this match 19-25, and EAC would win the day 0-3.

Yavapai's next match is next Friday, Oct. 25th, at Central Arizona College.
