PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The Yavapai College men's basketball team played host to the Arizona Western College Matadors on Friday night inside of Walraven Gymnasium and fell 81-71 to drop to 7-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play this season. 

Down 10-2 early in the first half, the Roughriders were able to cut their deficit to just one point on three separate occasions: a three-pointer from freshman guard Raphael Dupouy with 14:20 left to play to bring the score to 10-9, a bucket from sophomore guard Tym Richardson with 13: 45 to go to bring the score to 12-11 and a bucket from fellow sophomore guard Ray Glasgow with 13:10 to go to bring the score to 14-13. 

Unfortunately for YC, a one-point deficit was as close as it would get as AWC went on a 10-0 run after Glasgow's basket and led 24-13 with 10 minutes left to play in the first, before taking a 45-31 lead into halftime. 

After the break, the closest the Roughriders would get was within eight points and AWC eventually prevailed with the aforementioned 81-71 final score. 

Richardson led all YC scorers on the night with 15 and was joined in double digits by fellow sophomore guard Kieran Carr with 12 and Glasgow with 10.
