No. 10 CSI Tops YC Men’s Basketball In Rematch

11/10/2023 8:16:00 PM

TWIN FALLS, Idaho – After defeating the No. 10-ranked College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles last week to open its season, the Yavapai College men's basketball team was unable to capture the same magic on Friday night as the Golden Eagles won the rematch with a 91-74 final.

With the loss, the Roughriders move to 3-2 on the young season.

The Roughriders got the start they were looking for as nine minutes into the contest sophomore guard Tym Richardson hit a pair of free throws to give YC a commanding 16-7 lead.

From there, however, CSI's poor shooting vanished in a matter of moments and the Golden Eagles went on a 30-10 run during the next nine minutes of gameplay and led 37-26 and eventually led 43-30 at halftime.

Last week, the Roughriders faced a similar deficit at halftime and prevailed, however, no such luck was available tonight as the closest the Roughriders would get was a 10-point deficit five minutes into the half after a nice drive to the hoop from freshman guard Isaac Gonzalez

CSI cruised the rest of the game, led by 20 at one point and finished with the aforementioned 91-74 victory.

Richardson wound up leading all YC scorers with 23 points and was joined in double digits by freshman guard Kam O'Bannon (16) and sophomore guard Ray Glasgow (11).
