PRESCOTT, Ariz. – After seeing competition for the first time last weekend, the Yavapai College baseball team is back in action this weekend at the Zinger Bat Invitational in Mesa, Arizona, at Sloan Park: the spring training home of the Chicago Cubs.
The Roughriders have been a mainstay in the annual tournament, and this weekend 10 teams will be competing: Central Arizona, GateWay, South Mountain, Pima, CSN, Salt Lake, New Mexico Junior College, El Paso, Lamar and the Roughriders. More tournament info for fans and spectators can be found here.
For YC, its week of baseball begins on Friday, February 3, with a 10 a.m. matchup against the No. 1-ranked, defending National Champion Central Arizona College Vaqueros. Then, at 2 p.m. on Friday, the Roughriders will face the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds. Both of those games will take place on Field No. 6 at Sloan Park.
After the doubleheader, the Roughriders head to Red Mountain High School on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest with El Paso Community College. After the El Paso matchup, the Roughriders will play on Sunday with their time, opponent and field TBD, however, that game will be at Sloan Park.
