THATCHER, Ariz. – The Yavapai College women's basketball team headed south on Wednesday night to take on the No. 9-ranked Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters in Thatcher, Arizona.

Unable to upset Eastern Arizona, Yavapai fell 89-59 and moved its overall record to 7-11 and conference record to 4-8. The Gila Monsters, however, remain red-hot and are 20-0 overall this season.

Freshman guard Hollie Dalton knocked down a jumper for the first basket of the contest for both sides, however, the Gila Monsters rattled off 15-consecutive points after the shot to take a commanding double-digit lead.

After slowly clawing back into the game with a 23-12 deficit at the end of the first quarter, the Roughriders were outpaced once more in the second quarter and went into the break down 50-22.

Despite 12 second-half points from freshman forward Kishyah Anderson, YC saw Eastern Arizona maintain its big lead throughout the rest of the contest and eventually fell 89-59.

Anderson wound up leading the team in points with 21 while Dalton tallied eight points. Freshman guard Saydee Allred joined Anderson in double digits with 14 points, three of which were three pointers.
