CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – The Yavapai College baseball team fell 6-2 in the second game of its best-of-three series with the No. 10-ranked Central Arizona College Vaqueros on Friday afternoon, bringing its season to a close. The Roughriders finish their 2022 campaign with a 36-19-1 overall record. 

After a two-out RBI double from freshman utility man Ben Zeigler and two-out RBI single from freshman infielder Rocco Gump gave YC a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, the Vaqueros held YC scoreless for the rest of the game. 

Central scored once in the second, once in the fourth and then once more in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead. In the seventh inning, the Vaqueros pieced together a three-run rally to take a commanding six-run lead that proved to be the final. 

At the plate, sophomore utility man Jo Stevens had two hits while Zeigler, Gump, sophomore utility man JT Taylor and redshirt-sophomore outfielder Sean Rimmer all had one.
