PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- The Yavapai College Athletics Department is proud to announce the induction of its 2021 Hall of Fame Class.

"What a great Hall of Fame class," Director of Athletics Brad Clifford said. "All worthy of the honor, this unique class has brought pride to the college, the athletic department and their respective sports. The accomplishments that they made in the competitive arena personify what it means to be a Roughrider. I am looking forward to welcoming them into the Hall of Fame!"

Christina (Thrasher) Wombacher, Mike Huckeby and the 1986 baseball team make up the 2021 class and bring with them a rich history of tradition and success at Yavapai College.

Christina (Thrasher) Wombacher
Wombacher played basketball at Yavapai from 1996-98 and earned All-ACCAC honors twice while earning NJCAA All-Region and WBCA Kodak All-American honors as well. She left Yavapai as the all-time leading scorer (830 points - now second) and is fourth in all-time assists with 265. Her teams went 20-9 and 21-9, respectively, while at Yavapai.

"This is an honor," said Wombacher at the induction ceremony. "Thank you to everyone at Yavapai and my family as well. The memories I have here aren't about the stats, they are about the people and the experience. There's so many great memories and I appreciate it."

Mike Huckeby
Huckeby was a member and captain of the Rodeo team at Yavapai from 1970-72 and was the first letterman in the athletic department's history. On October 31, 1970, Prescott hosted its first ever NIRA (National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association) event where Huckeby took home second-place in bull riding. Later that season, in June of 1971, Huckeby earned a trip to the NIRA finals in Bozeman, Montana.

"I want to thank everyone that's involved," said Huckeby. "It is such an honor to be here. I never thought in a million years this would happen. Riding bulls is my love and passion and I love my rodeo. There's something about rodeo that stays in your heart. Thank you to everyone."

1986 Baseball Team
The 1986 baseball squad went 40-19 overall and 17-9 in the ACCAC en route to an ACCAC Championship, NJCAA Region Championship and third-place finish at the NJCAA World Series.

Other accolades garnered from the team include Head Coach Dave Dangler being named NJCAA Southwest District Coach of the Year, Pitcher Curt Schilling being named to the ACCAC Second-Team and being drafted by the Red Sox and Catcher Brian Deak being named NJCAA First-Team, ACCAC All-American First-Team and NJCAA Southwest District First-Team and ultimately being signed by the Atlanta Braves.

"When I think about this team and what makes it so special, these three things came to my mind," former Head Coach Dave Dangler said. "The first thing is that they had a lot of talent, no question about it. The second thing is that they had chemistry. The final piece of the puzzle that I think is the most important and strongest thing is that they cared a lot about each other. 35 years later, they still care about each other. This is by far the best group of guys that I have ever coached."

Full Roster: Dave Dangler (Head Coach),Kurt Kemp (Assistant Coach), Brian Deak, Tim Stanley, Brad Hebets, Pat Swift, John Alexander, Brady Brogni, Albert Mendibles, Kelly Clairmont, Tim Kerl, Scott Goldby, Cory Thomas, Jon Wegner, Mike Christopherson, Danny Diaz, Walter Miller, Steve Rodriguez, Ty Van Dyke, Steve Chappell, Rod Haffer, Paul Hanson, Curt Schilling, John Watson, Gary Weems, Paul Wilhelmsen and John Watson.

Wombacher, Huckeby and several members from the 1986 team returned to Prescott this weekend where they attended the induction ceremony at the Prescott Resort.
