PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. -- The Yavapai College Men's Soccer team defeated California Community Christian 7-0 last night at Mountain Valley Park raising their non-conference record to 2-0-0.

The Roughriders struck early once again in the 7th minute as Jesse Maldonado combined on a perfectly executed give and go with Charlie Nunez to make the score 1-0.

Four minutes later Mael Lopes would score his first goal of the season from an Andy Mata feed on top of the box to make the score 2-0. At the 12th minute mark, Alejandro Cardona would find Carlos Uriarte making a slashing run on the far post and beating CC's goalkeeper on a one time header driven towards goal.

The score would remain 3-0 going into the half. The Riders would strike again as Jesse Maldonado's brace on a PK would extend the lead to 4-0 in the 53rd minute of the match.

Freshman Brandon Pulido would make the game 5-0 on a 22 yard unassisted shot in the 77th minute. YC once again found the back of the net as Josué Martinez was able to cut and weave inside of the 18 yard box and bury a shot to the far post and make it 6-0.

In the 89th minute Joey Vega would capitalize on the final shot of the game with a banger to the far post to end the game 7-0.

YC outshot Community Christian 24-1 and had a 9-0 advantage on corner kicks. Hudson Bodily and Josue Ruiz split the shutout in goal.

"Tonight was a total team effort and saw six different freshmen score all seven goals," head coach Andre Luciano said. "We saw a lot of positives but know that there is still room for improvement."
