Sotelo joined the Roughriders in February of 2024 and enters his second season with the team in the spring of 2025.
Coach Sotelo coaches all facets of the game, however, specializes in hitting and infield. Sotelo brings over 10 years of coaching experience to YC, starting in July of 2012 as an assistant coach at Paradise Valley Community College.
While with the Pumas, Sotelo coached with Hall of Famer Nick Candrea and helped the squad reach the region playoffs in his first season for the first time in school history. Sotelo stayed with the Pumas until May of 2017.
After his time with PVCC, Sotelo stayed in Arizona and coached as an assistant at Ottawa University from June of 2017 to June of 2019 and Park University from June of 2019 to May of 2022.
Before returning to Arizona this past February, Sotelo also enjoyed assistant coaching stops at NCAA DII UMary in Bismarck, North Dakota, and DIII Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Before beginning his coaching career, Sotelo played semi-professional baseball and earned a masters of education degree from Park University and bachelor of arts degree in sports studies from Ottawa University.
