Yavapai College

Tobin brings over six decades of coaching experience to his role as an assistant for the Yavapai College Men’s Basketball Program. 

His journey began in 1978, spanning 14 years in the highly competitive NYC Catholic and public high schools. A standout player, for St. Peter’s Boy’s High School on Staten Island NYC, Tobin earned recognition as a Daily News All-Star in 1974, highlighting his status among the top 64 players in NYC. Notably, he led the 1974 St. Peter’s undefeated season (22-0), in Staten Island history. Relocating to Arizona in 1993 with his wife Monica and their three daughters, he joined Dolph Carroll as an assistant coach here at Yavapai. 

John holds a BA  Sociology from Hartwick College, an MAEd in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, an MAEd in Special Education from University of Phoenix and an EDs in Athletic Administration from North Central University. John and Monica are proud grandparents to ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom reside in the Quad City area.
