2024 (Sophomore): Earned First-Team All-Conference and First-Team All-Region honors… The Roughrider first baseman and No. 3 hitter played in all 54 games this season and tore the cover off the ball all season, finishing with a .412 batting average, 48 runs scored, 70 hits, 21 doubles, two triples, 13 homers, 55 RBI's, 29 walks, an OBP of .495 and SLG% of .788. He led the Roughriders in batting average, hits, doubles, homers (tied for first), RBI's, walks, OBP and SLG%. In the conference, he was ninth in runs scored, fourth in hits, first in doubles, tied for first in homers, second in RBI's, third in batting average, fourth in OBP and first in slugging. Defensively, Nelson made just one error in 311 total chances this season for a fielding percentage of .997.Â

High School:Â Nelson graduated from Byron Nelson High School in May of 2022. As a senior, he earned 6A First-Team All-State honors while hitting .455, breaking the school's batting average record and RBI record.Â
Before Yavapai:Â Before becoming a Roughrider, Nelson previously attended Western Texas College where he led the team in hitting with a .355 batting average.Â
Personal:Â Nelson was born in Toronto, Canada, on December 21, 2003. His hobbies include hanging out with his friends and family and "bowling with the boys". In the future, he plans to major in education and become a baseball coach.
