Woods was hired in September of 2022 and enters his third season with the Roughriders in the spring of 2025.
In 2024, Woods' squad went 17-37 (had to forfeit 11 wins) while five of his players earned All-Conference and All-Region honors.Â
During his first season with the Roughriders in 2023, Woods led the squad to a 29-20 record and fifth-place finish in the ACCAC standings. In addition, he saw four of his players earn All-Conference honors.Â
Woods comes to Yavapai College from Keller, Texas, where he was the the Director of Coaching and Operations for the North Texas Baseball Club (NTXBC) since October of 2009.Â
While with NTXBC, Woods directed and managed a coaching staff of 22 coaches and 250-plus players biannually. 90-plus% of Woods' players went on to play baseball at the collegiate level.
In addition, Woods oversaw a budget that exceeded $750K in annual revenue with NTXBC and increased the club's competitive teams by 2000% since its opening in 1999.Â
Prior to his time with NTXBC, Woods was an Associate Head Coach under Gary Benton's tutelage at Hill Junior College in Hillsboro, Texas, from May of 2000 to September of 2004. While at Hill, Woods helped lead the team to three NJCAA regional tournament appearances. Six of those Hill College players went on to MLB careers.Â
From September of 1991 to December of 1998, Woods spent time at Oxnard College, both as an assistant coach and head coach. His 1996 squad achieved the highest win total in school history with 31, en route to Woods earning Western Conference Coach of the Year honors. In addition, five of Woods' players at Oxnard went on to MLB careers.Â
Other coaching stops for Woods include Azusa Pacific University as a graduate assistant coach, Washougal Quakes as a head coach, Ventura College as an assistant coach and Citrus College.Â
Overall, Woods has sent 90-plus% of his baseball players to the next level with 32 going to the NCAA Division I level and 14 going on to professional careers.Â
As a player, Woods earned All-Conference honors at Azusa Pacific and Mount San Jacinto Junior College. In addition, he earned MVP honors at Linfield Christian High School.Â
Woods also earned his bachelors degree in interdisciplinary studies from Liberty University.Â
