  • The 1992 Yavapai College Men's Soccer Team defeated Andrew College (GA) 3-0 to capture their second of seven NJCAA National Championships. The 1992 Roughriders finished with a 24-1-0 overall record. Yavapai was an unprecedented 7-0 in postseason competition and allowed no goals in all district and national tournament matches.

Mike Pantalione, Men's Soccer Coach (1988-2021)

  • Michael Pantalione was selected the first head men's soccer coach for Yavapai College in August 1988 and retired in January 2021. His teams captured 78 conference, region, district and national championships, including seven national titles. In the history of men's intercollegiate soccer, he has the distinction of being the only retired coach at any level to average over 20 wins per season and compiled the highest all-time winning percentage with an overall record of 636-63-30. He is the NJCAA all-time leader in wins (636) and has been inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Soccer Hall of Fame, the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Hall of Fame and most recently, the United Soccer Coaches National Hall of Fame.

Brad Clifford, Basketball Coach and Athletic Director (1987-2023)

  • Having spent 35-plus years at Yavapai College as a student, student-athlete, assistant coach, head coach, assistant athletic director and athletic director, Brad Clifford bleeds Roughrider Green and Gold.
  • During his 15-year tenure at the helm of the Roughrider women's basketball program, Clifford had an overall record of 323 -143, becoming the all-time winningest basketball coach in YC history. Twice Clifford was named the WBCA Region I Coach of the Year.
  • Clifford coached six NJCAA All-Americans, 11 WBCA Kodak All-Americans, three ACCAC freshmen of the year, 58 All-ACCAC players and three ACCAC Players of the Year.
  • Following his coaching term, Clifford was named the assistant athletic director, a position that he held for a short five months, before being named the Athletic Director in 2012. Clifford served as the AD at YC until June of 2023.Â
