Yavapai Baseball Picks Up Win vs. #14 Cochise

YC BB wins one at home against Cochise

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (March 28, 2026)

The Yavapai Baseball team just completed their 3-game series at home against nationally-ranked Cochise College, and the Roughriders would end up winning one of those games.

The win was picked up in Game 2, which was a late game that resulted in a 12-4 win over the Apaches.

Carter Brown hit a home run in that game, his second of the day at that point! His other 2 hits of the game resulted in an RBI of 3, while Parker Halvorson, Aukai Araujo-Waiau, and Dalton Irwin each had 2 RBI. Garison Jones also had the chance to steal a base in the game and succeeded.

Austin Kalsek started this game at pitcher and would pitch 6.1 innings, tallying 3 earned runs, walking 2, and striking out 5.

Araujo-Waiau and Matthew Peterson each recorded a double play, and Derek Kiepke caught a runner stealing.

The other two games were Roughrider losses, with Game 1 ending with a 22-9 score, and Game 3 ending at 19-3.

In these games, Home Runs were scored from Tarrell Reid (2), Matthew Peterson, and Carter Brown.

Overall, Carter Brown had 7 hits in these three games, including 2 Home Runs and a Double, and Tarrell Reid hit 2 dingers as well. Austin Kalsek and Owen Fernandes each had 5 strikeouts while on the mound, and Josh Adler tallied 4.

Yavapai Baseball is now 15-13 on the year.

UP NEXT

Yavapai Baseball is headed up to Nevada for a 3-game conference series against the Coyotes of Southern Nevada. Games 1 and 2 are on Friday, April 3rd at 2 and 4:30 PM. Game 3 is on Saturday the 4th at 12 PM.
