In today's Men's Soccer game, the home team faced off in a fierce battle against the visiting College of Southern Nevada. Despite the low score, this game was all sorts of intense, and Yavapai was able to come away with the win, scoring one goal to their zero.
To start off the game, YC was able to get many of their players to take shots on the opponent's goal. Some great tries came from #10
Andres Pulido and three first half shots game from #14
Brandon Fischer. On the other end, great saves would continue to be made by #99
Maximiliano Ionita, who has not had a goal scored on him at home since September 10th. #20
Ricardo Juarez was also able to get in on some essential defensive stops, but this half was all about the offensive shots on goal for the Roughriders. Two shots from #24
Ian Lama, followed by three more shots from #21
Iker Villalba; the offense looked hot, but not hot enough to get the ball into the back of the net. #17
Jacob Vincent and #3
Gio Orozco would take a couple more shots to close out the half, but no one would score until the second half.
The second half is where the drama began to happen. This game had been pretty physical for the most part, where players were yelling at each other and not holding back their pushes and shoves. However, after a slide tackle gone awry, both teams began to crowd in the middle of the field, and refs and coaches had to intervene to break everyone up. This kerfuffle would last for a few minutes, but now that this event had happened, things became personal. #11
Anthony Khananisho had two very close shots, and to supplement his offensive, defensive efforts from Juarez and #16
Rashaad Powery would prove to be vital to keep the game alive. Villalbar would shoot, Ionita would continue to make tough saves, but it all came down to within the final five minutes, where #7
David Murillo made a huge play and scored the only goal of the game. The crowd cheered, the team rushed onto the field, and the visiting Coyotes would do nothing to combat it. The game ended with a score of 1-0.
