10/19/2024 9:37:00 PM

PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Tonight was Sophomore Night for the Yavapai College Women's Soccer team, and many friends and family members came out to show support for their Sophomore soccer players! The sophomores that were recognized tonight include:

#2 Ziyana De Los Reyes Guerrero
#4 Ava Manwill
#5 Megan Townsend
#6 Rylee Kunker
#7 Maddie Antonini
#11 London Wigen
#13 Paola Carrillo
#15 Dylan Ramirez
#22 Michaela Campbell
#23 Allison Eske
#24 Ade Bonner
#25 Victoria Taylor (Tori)
#27 Chloe Brand

This ceremony happened before the game, and right as this concluded, the matchup between Yavapai and Cochise College began.

Despite this being a home game on Sophomore Night, the Yavapai Roughriders would fall 0-6 to the Cochise Apaches. The air was chilly and many onlookers donned scarves and big coats to watch the outdoor game.

In the first half, Cochise scored one goal, and the rest of the shot attempts from Cochise were blocked by #00 Talon Bennett. She had some defensive help too, as #5 Megan Townsend, #2 Ziyana De Los Reyes Guerrero, #7 Maddie Antonini, and #24 Ade Bonner all made great defensive plays to keep the ball away from the goal. Although this game had the home team much more focused on defense rather than offense, there still were key plays that YC was able to make on that front. Shot attempts from #10 Kiera Campbell and #16 Reagan Peterson kept this game a one score game.

The second half also had some great offensive efforts, mainly from #25 Tori Taylor, #27 Chloe Brand, and from Megan Townsend, but none would find the back of the net. On the other end, some more great defense would shine through, as Carrillo and #6 Rylee Kunker kept the ball away, as well as some clutch saves from #1 Poppy Anderson. However, despite the hustle plays on both offense and defense from De Los Reyes Guerrero, she would find herself with a red card and ejected, and Cochise would score five goals in this half alone, to Yavapai's zero.

Cochise College Apaches win 6-0 on the road.

This was the final Yavapai College Women's Soccer home game for this season. Thank you to all who showed up to support the team this season!

The final game of the regular season will take place next Tuesday, October 22nd, at Eastern Arizona College.
